It’s been a fun summer early fall in 2017 for me, I met a girl that enjoyed fishing with me. I couldn’t give her the excuse of wanting to fish to get away from her because she enjoyed it as much as I did so we would tag along. She enjoyed all kind of fishing with me, fly fishing, spinner fishing and well one she soon would also enjoy partaking in, ice fishing. She’s never ice fisher before and was not sure what to expect besides being very cold, which rightfully so it was.
Just as with kids adults can get bored quickly if they aren’t having fun, this means catching fish. I had to make sure I picked a lake that provided the best chance for consistent action. Thanks to my handy journal, which I write an entry into every time I go on a fishing trip I was able to reference back to what lake has the best potential for good production of fish. Turns out that lake is Willow Creek, a small lake near the town of Granby, CO across the street from Granby Lake.
We arrived at 10am, lake by any fishermen standard but fish always eat, so you always have a chance. Weather was just right, overcast and in mid 30’s, we set up in 23 feet of water and dropped our jigs for a day hopefully lights out fishing. Watch the video below to see how our trip turned out.
